I did it! I went to a fundraiser for an organization my husband and I are involved in. I stayed sober. I had fun; I ate a great meal, I danced to great music. It was interesting to be on the other side of the drinking equation. I was highly tuned in to who was drinking, how much. I noticed that the people who only had one or two drinks are so very different from the way I drink. Their consciousness/ mood/ behavior were not noticably altered at all.

I feel proud of my sober night.

In the morning Im usually going through the motions, brushing off the husband and kids bc I am immersed in my hangover. This morning I feel engaged in what the husband has to say, the kids sports games, the folks around me.

Excellent job! I'm on day 8, went out to lunch yesterday and actually had iced tea instead of beer and I felt quite happy with myself afterwards. Being sober may just become a habit!
