AA Meeting Advice...

I'm looking for a meeting in my local area...I'm not into religion too much...I don't judge people however....with that being said the holding hands and praying thing I don't pray but can hold hands...haha.

But I guess I'm looking for a good non-smoking place...is this wrong?

Day 4 today...

I'm not sure where you live, but where I am you can't smoke in the meetings.

If I were looking for an AA meeting, I'd enlist google by typing 'find an AA meeting'. Then, I would open a page like this one, and follow the instructions there.

Good thing you are not into religon because neither is AA. All the meetings I go to are NS. There are zillions of meetings just type in AA and your county name, State and google will find some.

If it is your first meeting I would identy yourself as someone new in AA and they will take it from there. Most groups ask if anyone present has never been to a meeting before.

AA saved my life. Let us know how it went.

It's a simple search.

Type in: aa city state

Then look for the aa.org site for an actual AA intergroup.

Or private message me, my sponsor just gave me a book which has all intergroup telephone numbers in it!

I wish you well on your sober journey!

AA is not about religion so do not worry about that. Not going to lie it is about spirituality but that can defined as you see it. In my home group we have agnostics and atheists and all have recovered. I look at AA as a group of people who have one common goal, quit drinking. Like MIRecovery said. let them know it is your first meeting and they will take it from there. Go in with an open mind and I think you will be amazed.

Yep, I can support the above. No religion and no smoking in both my home group and my home away from home group. I saw one smoking group on my mtg list, and it's far out of town. I think it's the only one! I have Jews, Buddhists, and one Muslim that I know of in my home group. All recovering.
