When feeling down...laugh!

So I heard about this the other day and I've tried it three times. All three times I felt better than when I started to fake laugh.

Basically, fake laugh heartily for one minute and then see how you feel.

I'm a sceptic at heart and was pleasantly surprised at the positive results.

'The simple muscular exertions involved in producing the familiar ha, ha, ha, he said, trigger an increase in endorphins, the brain chemicals known for their feel-good effect.'

Thanks for sharing this Xune!! It reminds me of when my kids start laughing for no reason that I can figure out, one starts, and pretty soon all three are laughing, and without fail I join in.

Laughter is a good thing.

A friend, who is a monk, shared his experience of riding in the back of a truck over dirt roads early in his monastic life. Often the monks would hit their heads against the metal posts on the truck and laugh. My friend couldn't understand this as he had hit his head many times and it always hurt badly. However, since the older more experienced monks were doing it, he decided to give it a shot and the next time he hit his head he forced a laugh... and much to his surprise, it didn't hurt as badly.

He advises laughing as often as possible - especially when something hurts.

Great article. I am fortunate to work with children every day. They somehow innately know the secret of laughter. Not a day goes by that I don't have a good gut buster. Really does release endorphins.

and "patting and delousing"...LOL right on
