The lucky ones!

Just posting on SR today means i have made it, i may not be perfect nor have multiple years sobriety but iam actively in recovery. i have not drunk today nor do i have any desire to do so.

So many of us dont even make recovery they die!!

So today iam one of the luck ones!!

Hope everyone is blessed.

Indeed you are, we all are. You like me are sober today and today is all we will ever have. I just got done saying my prayers and asking for a day of sobriety. God willing it will be granted.

Each day sober or clean is a reason
to wake up with graditude, gratefullness,
appreciation for having a program of
recovery to live by and allow us to be
happy, joyous and free.

I am one of those grateful alcoholics glad
to be here alive today to share with many
of you in recovery.

I often worry that I will end up like Scott Fitzgerald if I don't get this drinking kicked

Congrats on your day of sobriety.

True. I lost a very good friend of mine a few years ago, visited him in the hospital while he was yellow with Jaundice, and saw him two days before he died when he was finally in hospice.

He told me that if he made it through, he would never drink again. He told me how badly he felt that he snuck off so many times to avoid seeing his son to get drunk. I believed he would have done it too, but that was the last straw for him, it was too late.

His son was only 9 years old.
