The magic day 30!...so what happens now?
Well I have reached day 30, don't ask me how haha. What is the significance of 30 days, does alcohol stay in your system that long?
Will I wake up full of vim and vigour? Hope so
Think i'm over the worst ( crosses fingers)
Thankyou to everyone on here for your support, I really truly don't think I could have done it without you some nights.
no alcohol tastes as good as sober feels!

Congrats on your first 30 days! I hate to break it to you, but there is nothing "magic" about it. It's a convenient marker for a milestone, that's all. A way to measure how far you have come. There is a lot of work ahead of you if you are to stay happily sober for the long haul.
It's a nice thing to have, and I'm not trying to diminish it in any way, shape, or form. Everybody with 10, or 20, or 30 years started with 30 days, and before that, with one day. The days add up!

The day I quit drinking can be a day to note, the day I got freedom from my addiction to alcohol. I imagine if I were an ex-con, I would be telling you how long I spent in prison, not how long it has been since I got out.
Congratulations to you on your decision, Kizzy. Well done.

It's funny you should say that, it's the one thing that astounds me the most, not how long i've been sober but how long I drank for.

You're right Xune, the alcohol is gone. Now we just have to see about the ISM of alcoholism.
Between the two of us we can look after the youngster. If he can walk away from it you can take him under your wing.
If he can't, he can come with me.
All the best.

Thankyou and spot on paul! Seeing as I could count on the fingers of one hand the amont of sober days I chalked up in the 15yrs prior to this.... It's nothing short of a miracle
Congratulations kizzy! This is just the first of many milestones to mark your sobriety.
While the alcohol is completely out of your system, it may still be in your head. Today is 6 months for me and every once in a while the thought of a cold beer still comes to mind (usually when it is suggested by someone).
I dont know how long you drank but I got drunk every night for 35 years, so I have a LONG way to go before I can claim that I'm cured! (if ever......).
