I almost forgot!
I almost forgot!
Gosh it went so smoothly that I almost forgot to share this with you guys...
I told Beavette (6) that his dad was in prison! It was totally spur of the moment and he almost seemed glad to know that there was a REASON his Dad wasn't around. I told him why...driving while drinking and how dangerous that is.
Kids! They are so cool. He was full of questions. He asked me if they let him out of his "cage" to eat. He wanted to know what they did all day...he is convinced that they have to lift heavy things (?) and if little kids went to jail they wouldn't have to because they are too small. Jail is for a short time and prison is for longer. More questions than I can think of here...
It was me that made this bigger than it had to be. I was lacking honesty in my childhood and look where it got me...sorry...I AM glad to be here with all of you! So maybe being honest is totally the way to go.
Hugs,
JT

Re: I almost forgot!
JT, Not only is Beavette a cool kid but his Grandmother is one cool lady.
There is not way to count the times I've made huge mountains out of something that wasn't even a mole hill yet. What a releif not to have to go there anymore. (well, some of the timeanyway) LOL.
Good work JT. :clap

Re: I almost forgot!
Great News JT! I agree that honesty is always the way to go. Kids can handle that better than secrets and not knowing. Take care. Wow 6 years old already!
Re: I almost forgot!
J.T.,
I bet it was a huge relief for him to know.
I'm guilty too of not giving the little people enough
credit to compute the truth.
I'm so glad for both of you.

Thanks everyone!
I worried this one to death and when the time came it just came. It seemed right and I guess it was. I will have to remember that honesty is the way to go. Secrets are horrible! Not telling him was me selfishly not wanting to do something hard.
One more life lesson,
JT
