Familyman got work release...

I finally got out to come to work. It feels a lot better behind this desk then in that cell. Most people said the reality is not as bad as the fear before going to jail. That is partly true but I can honestly say that jail is not where you want to be, of course. The worst part is not knowing how to do stuff and no one tells you. I won't go into detail but I am not looking forward to the long weekend. I did find a copy of the big book and am already past page 164. It helps a lot and this will be an experience that I can share. I just feel bad for my kids ages 13, 7 & 4. They just want their daddy home.

Familyman, I'm glad they gave you work release, at least a break from jail. It doesn't sound fun, but you continue to have a good attitude and it won't be forever. Hang in there!

I would say not knowing how to do things is likely a good thing. If you knew, that would mean you had done this before.

Be strong and it will be over soon.

Excellent news, that's a huge step. You seem to have a great attitude as well, that will help too. Here's to your sobriety and a return to home as soon as possible.

I spent 4 years on probation for 2 OWI. Checked in 3 days a week. It is just a blip on the screen of my life now.

Of course they do! But they're going to get something even better in the long run—their daddy is going to be happy and healthy. And free, truly free, from the kind of jail cell that's invisible to everyone but ourselves. Soak up their love when they're near, and you can carry it with you when they're not, FM.

I wish I could see them but we told the younger kids I was away for work. My 13 year old knows so it is toughest on her. It does show me how much I value my family and the time with them. The drunk familyman would be looking for a way around the system so I could drink something but this sober familyman just wants to do his time, follow the rules and get home as soon as possible. Thanks for all your support.

I'm so glad you let us know what's going on. I think you're handling this painful time very well. Hoping the time will fly by and you'll soon be back to your real life. (Wiser for the experience.)

It means you get to enjoy edible food, and generally can use private toilet facilities.

How great is that, given the alternative?

Thinking and rooting for you FamilyMan. I also had my DUI dramas and think I can imagine how you're feeling.

Hey,

Thanks for reporting in! This, too, shall pass. Glad you are using the time productively.

At least you've got good reading material!
