Day 5 (still good even in the face of temptation !)
Hi, Day 5 has come and and still abstaining .. even had a friend come round last night who I hadn't seen for ages. I said I wasn't drinking and she said 'ooooh I sooo wanted to drink wine with you '.. . I said 'go ahead and get some if you want for you - but I am not drinking'. and so she went to supermarket and came back with bottle of wine. We sat and chatted for a few hours - she had 2.5 glasses (why can't I stop at that ?) and I had NONE!! Just juice and tea ...no problem at all. Went to bed and woke up feeling great. Now I have to throw away the half bottle she left in the fridge !
I feel like I am making progress - largely thanks to the help and support here !

Hey IMDT,
It's excellent that you are on day 5. I too had a friend come round in the very early days of my recovery and start drinking wine in front of me. I was ok about it at the time but it could have gone a completely different way. Try avoiding these types of situations in the future. Addiction is so cunning that we never quite know what is going to happen in those types of situation. And most importantly just try to keep taking it one day at a time.
