Pickled? Not this guy! Sorta...

So.... I had a really bad bout of "I really want a drink!" But since I don't drink I thought.... Hmmmm... Let me get out of the house.

Went to the grocery store to walk the isles and see people. It was one of those gourmet stores with expensive things in small glass jars. Better than going for a stroll down the frozen foods isle I can tell ya that.

So what does a drunk buy to stay sober? Gourmet pickles of course! If I cannot get pickled one way I will another.

To boot I live across from my fav bar.... Saw all the cars of bar friends getting picked as well.

I am very happy to be here with you all right now!

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

K

SoberL I love half sour. They were $3.89. So not all that gourmet. Lol I went there since there was not much else.

Hey fresh! Full sour are good too!

I want to try making my own for the first time. I need something to take up my weekends.

I found any kind of really pungent or spicy food helped entertain me when I was newly sober--something to keep my mouth/taste buds busy. Pickles are very healthy, too--much better for you than gallons of ice cream (another early-sobriety treat).

I had some pritty strong vineagar cravings early on in sobriety , i'd recomend canadian mature cheddar cheese and pickled onion sanwiches

I think i read somewhere it takes about 6 weeks for new habbits to become habbitual , so keep on .

Bestwishes, M

I always enjoyed calling getting drunk getting pickled. It cracked me up. Onward to new kinds of pickling I guess. I think it's great you could recognize the urge and take action to do something to switch gears-it's a really an important skill for this journey.

I'm finding myself turning into more of a neat freak since I stopped drinking. It's scaring me a little lol

I am excited to figure out methods to pickle. In Maine I loved dilly beans... Spiced pickled green beans. I was addicted.

I eat pickles every day. I have for so long I don't even think about it. I just buy them.

Ok...I hear ya... I am perfectly fine being strange. Who wants to be normal anyway!

I was gonna create a post about this but yours is in the same vein...
I've taken to going to bed at around 10pm with around 4 recently downloaded classic 1960s/70s horror movies (my favorites)
So rather than waking up each morning with the HORRORS of drink im going to bed early with the horrors instead

What movies?

Polish baby dills. They are cute and garlicy. Is garlicy a word? Little Barbie sized pickles.

In the UK we have pickled eggs.
Hard boiled eggs that are pickled.
I have never tasted one, but I think they look yak!
