I've been finding it really difficult to get motivated to get out with my camera lately. I'm sure temperatures in the teens and twenties have a lot to do with it, lol. Yesterday, I finally got out there and I was rewarded with a golden eagle. I don't see them very often. In fact, I think I've only seen two others in the last four or five years, so it put a big smile on my face and got me back in the zone! Now I'm itching to go out again.

Even though I stayed there, stalking that bird for a good twenty minutes, it never did fly. Usually the raptors don't like you getting too close and they fly away. But this one stood it's ground-----errr, pole. I even had a fleeting moment where I wondered if it would get irritated enough not to fly away, but to swoop down on me.

They are such regal birds. I especially like their spikey blonde "mane."

It felt more like the eagle sized me up and decided it could take me if it needed to! Man, those birds are big!
