Hello
So, just come across this site - bit of an internet moron and living in an area where the signal could be best described as dismal. Still it seems I've found a good place here. Four days in (again) but this time feeling more determined, positive. Have tried before, on my own, to get off the booze and obviously it hasn't worked in the long run. This time I'm getting some help - starts on Wednesday. Anyway I've been an on and off drunk for the last 10 years, started when I opened a bar which is probably a bit of a cliche. Christmas and New Year kicked off a bad spell but, like I said, this is the first time I've talked to anyone about this apart from my partner.
I'm 41 and have been waiting to grow up for the last 20 odd years, waiting for the adult in me to tell me to stop drinking, waiting without success. So I have decided that's not going to happen on its own. Like I said feeling upbeat but aware of the struggle right now. Wish I could get a night's kip though!

Welcome My Friend,
You have found a good place here at SR. Good support and alot of experience. Hope you can find support like a local AA chapter as well.

I read here everyday, sometimes more.
I feel strange if I don't spend time here, like something is missing.
Its helped me get 333 days today.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that would happen.
It can happen too for you if you want it.
It sounds like you have got some good plans in place.
The sleep will come I promise.
Just eat well, keep hydrated.
Keep busy and positive.
Read and learn here as much as you can. There are many, many wise people who can help and advice you as much as you need.

Hi and Welcome,
I think owning a bar and trying to get sober early into sobriety could be a challenge for most of us. I live in a foreign country and am quite isolated and got sober using this website and AA. Luckily I am blessed with good Internet access am quite dependent on it really.
