Am I really strong enough?
I know it's time to face the music and finally get off prescription pain meds. I have been on hydrocodone for 7 yrs. I take 2 before I even get out of bed in the morning. Up to 10 a day. Where do I start?
Hi 4myfamilyof5
coming here is a great start
I think we all doubt our strength - that's where support can help - soon you'll find you're a lot stronger than you think you are I reckon.
I'm not familiar with hydros myself but I think it's a good rule of thumb to get a professional medical opinion on what to do, if you can.
In any case, thats up to you - you'll certainly find support here - check out our substance abuse forum too:

You don't know until you have tried.
Don't doubt yourself.
I thought that I could never achieve one year,
I am 327 days today!!!
I had (and still have) so little belief in myself that I never joined a monthly thread on here for people who have given up in a certain month.
I just quietly started by myself.
As the days stacked up, it got easier.
I felt a bit wobbly in the single figure days and the early double figures, but not it is lots better.
Even if you don't get it right the first time, or the fifth time, at least give it a try.
And pull in all the help you can, especially medical advise, as it can only help strengthen what you are doing.
I did find, the longer I went, the more days I had, the prouder I felt and that made me push on and on. I hope its the same for you.
My best to you

Welcome 4myfamilyof5!
Just admitting you have a problem and reaching out for support is a great way to start. There are lots of options.....inpatient or outpatient treatment, recovery programs and/or talking to a doctor would be great (some now specialize in addiction). Having a group like this at your fingertips, 24/7, is what helped me the most in those early days.
Most of us come here feeling helpless and alone, wondering if we'll ever be able to change, so we understand what you're going through. Keep reading and posting.....:ghug3
