Legal highs (cannabis-types)

Hi all.

I have only just come to the realisation that I have a problem with legal highs (cannabis types). I have been smoking these for a good few years now, but am starting to become aware that I am developing addictive behaviour around them. I spend waaay too much on them, I sneak around behind my partner’s back so he won’t know (though he also has an issue with them), I spend hours obsessing about when I’m going to have my next smoke. There are days when I really don’t think about anything else. Every day I am determined not to buy any more: some days I succeed.

Great to join the group, anyway. I definitely need some help with this. Thanks in advance, and I hope I can help you too.

Hey, they just legalized the other stuff here. It doesn't matter, if we are addicts we would be addicted to lumps of coal if they got us high.

Financial ruin is but one of many bad roads to be on. Welcome to this good road!

..and (drum roll please) introducing MY SIGNATURE, referencing a fine British journal just for you, Mr. Lean:

it's not a legal high, it is just not yet illegal and has all kinds of horrible repercussions.

Hey Lean,

A friend of mine relapsed on a number of legal highs. He now can't stop without intervention from a doctor and a medically assisted detox. It's the old adage that because it is legal it must be ok. A lot of these drugs are more dangerous than their illegal counterparts. Unfortunately they seem to be used quite prolifically. I know that in Wales they have a huge problem with Meow-meow/M-Cat. It's all dreadful stuff.

I'm glad you have noticed you have a problem. You posted here so that's a start. Now you just have to figure out what you want to do about it. I attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings. I'm clean. You might not be at the stage of wanting to seek help beyond here and that's fine. Numerous people, including one of the forums moderators maintains their sobriety by reading and posting regularly on the forum. I hope you decide what you want to do.

Natom.
