Had Enough Now: An Admission

I'm about 8 months clean. For the last month of so I have felt really ill and tired pretty much all the time. Checks with the doctor revealed it wasn't anything serious or medical and that it was actually just my diet. So I am admitting a couple of things. I abuse energy drinks and coffee in general. I drink a ridiculous amount of the stuff. On a daily basis. I also overeat a lot of the time. I don't eat a very balanced diet. I have the option to but I have chosen not too. And I am sick of it. I'm changing things. I've bought a load of detox teas and restocked on my usual vitamins. So I'm planning a cleanse from all the sugars and caffiene that is swimming around in my body. This is quite obviously why I feel bad. Because I am still pumping my body full of rubbish. So I'm giving myself a week worth of healthyness and then I am going to see where I stand.

Natom.

Hi Natom,

Glad that you are tackling things head on. Do you exercise at all?

I am lost when I don't move enough :>) and I haven't moved properly for several months since my Dad passed and I don't feel good in myself at all.............I know sport is good for us in many ways but I can't bring myself to do it anymore. I am still pretty fit but I know I have to move soon or I will sink into the deep depths lol.

Take care
Val

A weeks prolly not enough but at least its a start.
My general life style while drinking was pretty healthy.
Now,sober, and enduring a few lows.
I see patience as very important.

Good one, remember that changing habits takes time. Personally for me diet plays a huge role on how I feel. I tend to avoid all sugar, caffeine and process carbs (bread, pasta, rice and potato) which gives me tons of energy and really elevates me mood!

Best of luck

Good for you Natom I think it is natural for us to do stuff excessively. Plus coffee and sugar give us a bit of a buzz... It is hard to adjust to being calm all the time.

Watch out for headaches! I suffered when I kicked caffeine in the past. Best to ease off it. Well done though!!

When tested properly, tap water is best.

Run tap water for at least one minute, then drink. It's the best for natural detoxing and the healthiest, too!

Happy New Year!

a little extra walking wouldn't hurt, either! everything needs to be balanced.....

I am healthy in what I eat and I do exercise but I too have a massive problem with coffee and energy drinks! It's a hard cycle to break. I need to do it too.

I also need to cut back on coffee and my newly found sugar addiction (it has gotten a little better on its own with time) so will join you. Good luck!

I just got a new Keurig coffee maker, they sell tea for it so I am going to try and cut back on the other stuff that way.

I am guilty if too much caffeine too. I have begun cutting back, and like you I am doing some cleansing. I am drinking Chef V's green drink, all veges and a hint of apple. I am going to do her cleanse the week of the 14th.

I have been pretty good with exercise, and want to continue with that as well. I am glad the Christmas cookies are finally gone!!!!

Good luck with the cleanse, let us know how it goes.

I've been drinking waaaay too much diet soda type drinks. After years of spending six hours a night with a wine glass in my hand I just feel like I need to be drinking something! Water ain't doing it. Eventually I gotta taper off of the stuff, if for no other reason than the acidity of it and the fact that it's probably bad for the kidneys. Water is really the best, but maybe I can can slip some tea in there.

I'm on day 2 of cutting out sugar & reducing carbs. I feel less bloated and tired already-it's amazing. to replace energy drinks try soda water mixed with no sugar cordial. I googled cutting out sugar and was horrified to see howtoxic it is,ho much we eat and the effects of removing it.good luck

8 months is awesome! I have been abusing caffiene & sugar too and feel like crap. I figured I would be gentle with myself being I am early in but lately a little voice inside of me is telling me to step it up and start eating healthy. Your post has inspired me Glad you are okay and taking better care of yourself
