Hi Jonno, welcome from another Perth dweller. Giving up drinking for 3 months is awesome, surviving the latest heat wave is pretty impressive too. I've just completed 38 weeks and it's the best thing I've ever done. I've had my moments of temptation but it's been such a positive time I've never come close to giving in.
You've come to the right place for amazing support from people all over the world, and lots of Aussies too. Keep it up!
I'd be interested in knowing if you've gone the AA route?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Great to see so many people here.
Yep, its been pretty hot over here. I live in Perth but work up north in the mines (Kimberley). So pretty well used to the heat.
The hardest part about saying "no" is the bit where you have to dodge the "whats wrong with ya? Have a beer" comment from relatives, friends and work colleagues.
Taking it one day at a time. I'm an alcoholic that chooses to abstain one moment at a time. Its that easy and its that hard.
"FeelingGreat" - Yes working the Steps. Picked up the Big Book a couple of days after hitting rock bottom. I can't explain the effect its had on my life so far. By far better than any buzz I ever got from the booze. Freedom.

Hey John,
I just watched a movie, Red Dog, about a dog that hung around the Dampier Australia area, a mining town. I believe it was a true story and there is a statue of him there. Terrific film, have you seen it?

Red Dog
Hi Itchy,
Yes, I've watched it. Good for a laugh. Working conditions have changed since then but its still red dirt and big miners with big trucks, big trains and big egos.
Unfortunately the Dog that played Red Dog recently died.
