Gonna stop drinking tomorrow!
Hi everyone
This is my 1st post ever anywhere. I have read many stories over the Xmas period while coming across your site, which has promoted me to join.
I'm 47 and have drank beer every day since I was a teenager. I would love to stop drinking, I tell myself that's it, I'm not drinking in the week, then comes Monday and I find an excuses to drink. I am sick and tired of drinking and want to stop. I've been a diabetic for 15 years brought on by drinking strong lager 9 percent plus, would love to stop and be sober.
I hope to stop tomorrow with the help from you guys and your stories.
Tomorrow will be the day!

Welcome to SR Will 
This place is great for support and for me it provided a place to be accountable when no one else knew how I drank or why I was quitting. I'd recommend joining the Class of December thread, or January when it comes up. Having ongoing support from other people quitting at the same time really helped me.

After all those years you obviously know the down side.
2013 can be a real lucky year; not really luck, but based on your own sane efforts and the great help you can get from here and other places promoting sobriety.

I always wanted to have one day.
I never thought I would have a week...no way a month.
But today I am 322 days sober!
A huge part of it has been down to SR. In fact most of it is down to SR.
I cannot wait to see how you feel when you wake up on new years day feeling amazing!
To me, setting yourself a challenge and achieving it will make this nye's one of the most memorable.
Get prepared.
Something good on the telly, nice food, feet up, non alcoholic drinks. You could even make yourself a non alcoholic cocktail for when big ben comes on.

Hi Will! Congratulations on wanting a new and better life. It's hard to leave our old ways behind, but there is life after alcohol. It sounds like you're ready to get free from it. We know you can do it.
