Filling the hole in, after climbing out..
Hello All...
I hope everyone each had a great Christmas or Holiday season. I am doing well, sober and feeling better. I still get these awful night sweats, I dont know why, it may be just the Goose Down Duvet. I have been thinking alot about, what am I going to do different this time. One thing I realized is, its not enough just to climb back out of the hole Alcohol put me in.. I have to fill that hole back up. I have inside me a hole that needs filling up, otherwise I am simply still suffering from my dis ease. So, I am starting to actually take some of the advice I have read about on this wonderful site. I am slowly learning gratitude and appreciation. I need to count my blessings, not my problems. I need to get back into the gym, because good physical health helps in good mental health. I need to find satisfaction in new hobbies, rather than kill time and my soul with Alcohol. I also need to become less selfish, and helping others might be the solution there... These are all endeavours I will challenge myself each day of 2013, which I have promised will be a sober, happy year. Happy New year, all...

This is old, but I love the hole analogy. It's by Portia Nelson.
Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
Chapter 1
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter 2
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter 3
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter 4
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter 5
I walk down another street.

Oh boy, just the thought of sleeping with a Goose Down Duvet makes me sweat!
Hope you'll start feeling better soon. It's great to see that you have a plan for your continued sobriety and recovery. May be make a checklist for yourself that you can go over each day. Make sure you've covered all of those things?
Happy New Year!
