Newbie

Hello, i'm new here, I joined just now. I am sick and tired of my drinking and really want to stop. I even paid to see a counsellor recently but ended up lying to her about how often and how much I drink.

I really want to be honest on here and am going to try really hard today. The trouble is I start every day feeling determined and then it all goes wrong in the evening.

Tonight I have to go visit someone so this will delay my starting time, I am hoping then to come home and make a soft drink instead of hitting the booze.

Thanks for reading this. I hope that soon I will be able to offer others some support.

Welcome to SR Mabli

That was a great start and yes I remember sitting in bars crying wondering how I was wasted again.

Different when I started talking to thers and spending time in their company.

Thanks Dee, it will be this evening that I will need to keep busy so I will be sure to come on here and read and post. I think it will be important to do something different to start to break the habit.

Hi Mabli, I'm new as well and just like you want to end this daily drinking hell. I went to my Doctor and told the truth. The support here is tremendous and people who understand what we are going through persuaded me that it was the way to go. I'm just waiting for appt with counsellor. C'mon we can do this thing. x

Hi Mabli and welcome to SR.

There is so much support on offer here. It helped me so very much at the beginning. I often think that I wouldn't be where I am now without this wonderful place.

The most important thing you can know right now is that being sober is most definitely possible. You CAN do it, and you will do it if you believe in yourself and never let your determination falter. It's not always easy, but it is simple: you just have to stop opening those bottles and pouring those drinks.

Wishing you all the best and hope you stick around, it really does help to be here.

I remember trying it give up and ending up wasted again and back on the path to self destruction.
Stay strong Mabli and don't give in. You can do it.
