The Classic NYE resolution.

Seems there are very few sober anniversarys on the first day of the year, though NYE resolutions to stop drinking are common among alcoholics.

Any ideas why this should be so?

My opinion. It just doesn't feel right for people, yeah they say it because its a time for it, but, they dont follow it through because I think you have to feel it. its not an airy fairy wish, its a tough realisation.

I guess to make a successful stop you stop when you really want to, time of year is a comparative irrelevance.

Alcoholics aren't good at making and sticking to commitments when it relates to themselves.

Procrastination...It's the ultimate goal....I think that's how I ended up with July first.

Many hungover New Year's Day words are muttered, but don't think anyone can stop until they truly want to. I am proud of my 10-12-12 date, and plan on continuing to add days!!!

I was going to wait and make it a new years resolution, but realised there will never be a good time, just plenty of good excuses, so quit two days ago!

Drunks want to drink and for many, New Years is yet another reason to drink and really, they don't want to stop drinking yet.

New Years resolutions are nothing more than short lived wishful thinking. ( for most)
