Just tell yourself it will get better. It was the hardest thing for me to see or do.

Everyone has a day 2; I'm only on day 21. I was told to just take it one day at a time, or even one hour at a time. Not easy I know, but when you go to bed tonight and wake up tomorrow you'll feel so proud. Just don't take that first drink, you can do it!!

One day at a time is definitely the way to go, especially those first few days. I was on SR a ton during my first few days (I am still on quite a bit )

Let us know how you are doing tomorrow.

The only advice I can give you about making it to day 2 is not to think about day 2. Think about Day 1 exclusively. Then when Day 1 is done you can start thinking about Day 2.

Natom.

I'm on day two also. Well......day two of a taper. So not totally off but working in that direction thru a 60 day narcotic taper. Even tho I'm tapering I'm still scared that I won't make it but I've put a lot of things into place to make it more attainable long term this time.

If there is only one thing I could I tell you to help you along it would be to exercise self care at all costs, whatever that may mean to you. Do what you have to do to be as stress free and content as possible. Leave the drama behind for someone else. I don't know about you, but emotions fuel me so I'm working on self care and doing my best to leave the drama behind. Hope that helps you make it thru day two.

Keep your mind and body busy, come to this site and read the words the people have so courageously shared with us and experience the energy (not to mention pride) you will feel when you wake tomorrow without a hangover.

Welcome to SR shadow, glad you're here, you'll find lots of support and wisdom! I agree with the other posters, take it one day/hour/moment at a time. It helped me in the very beginning to keep myself busy, find replacement beverages to keep in my hand and read for at least an hour before trying to go to sleep. Take it from all of us, it does get easier, and it does get better!

Did you make it through day 2? Remember 1 day at a time.

First couple weeks are the hardest. But its so worth it!!! I was struggling a lot in the beginning. Just could not stop drinking. So I had 2 choices to drink for the rest of my life or quit forever. I already was drinking 2 bottles of wine a day (sometimes a little more). So I decided to quit.
IT GETS BETTER you just need to wait.
