New to this

Every day that goes by, I feel the cravings going down, but I need find different tools to get me through events that used to make me hide in the garage and chug as much as I can before going back in the house. I am loving this new life and new feeling of sobriety. I guess if it was easy to get over alcohol, there wouldn't be so many horror stories. I have plenty of my own, but it is so good to hear from so many others that either feel the same way I do, or similar. I know I have a long way to go, but anything is better than how it was.

Welcome! Things do really get better, if we work for them and let them.

Welcome !

Aside from not drinking and attending AA, I also decided to see a good therapist to help me heel....

Thank you. I am getting to the point where I can't wait for meetings and am glad to find this forum to "get my fix" on talking to other people. Reall cool how open everyone is and lending a hand in each other's recovery.

It certainly gets easier when we're comfortable at the meetings. Keep going... no matter what. Quitting drinking is just the beginning.

All the best.

Pleased to meet you, rPdopn. It's great to have you join the family.

When I found SR it helped relieve all the anxiety I was feeling. Whether I was just reading, or posting - it calmed my nerves to have something else to focus on. Knowing I wasn't alone anymore was a huge help. These people got me on my feet and have always held me up when I faltered. I hope you'll enjoy the experience of being here - and that it helps you on your journey.

Already am overwhelmed with support. It really is great to see. I am going on 3 months tomorrow and could not do it without my friends, family, wife. Very happy to see multiple resources to use at my expense to show and see vulnerability to such a powerful and enormous threat. I do have to laugh at the sugar temptations everyone has after quitting. My downfall was Smarties, and I am drinking soda, which I have not had in so long (except to mix with!) So many changes that are for the better!

Welcome to SR! I am the same way. I love my group and my friends in them. I look foward to meetings very much. I have also learned that I love it here and always want to check in with my group here. It has helped me so much in my recovery. Posts don't go unnoticed here. There is always someone to chat with or post with. There's always someone to help me or for me to help. I love that.
