Hello

Hi, I just found this site and I hope you all can give me some advice on living with an alcoholic wife, we are in our 40's and it's getting harder every day to cope with the stress. Living in Germany has it's challenges when seeking treatment, the closest english meeting is almost 2 hrs away.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hello there,

My wife rarely drinks. Im sure there are some people here who can help. I would guess you need to encourage her to get some help, but ultimately she needs to decide on her own. Maybe you can talk to someone locally, who can help with your situation.

GoodLuck!

welcome planedr

as you can imagine the boards are a little quiet right now, but I'm sure others with experience to share will be along soon

you might also like to look at our Family and Friends forums - there's a lot of support and experience there too

Welcome planedr. I'm so glad you found us and you're reaching out for help. There'll be many here who are going through the same situation.

I've been on both sides of this thing, and when I was dealing with an alcoholic husband I was clueless. I had never heard of Al-anon back then. I think it would've really helped me understand. I was the classic 'enabler' and did everything wrong (thinking I was helping protect him). I know you'll get some good advice. I hope it helps relieve your anxiety.

I hope your wife finds a way to deal with her alcoholism.

You will find lots of support here in the Friends & Families forum.
