Welcome paulhewson! I'm sure you will find many wonderful people on SR over 50! It's never to late to quit, right?

Hi Paul, welcome. I'm in my 40's but I believe there are several people on this site that have quit in their 50's. Lots of great support here.

Good. I thought I may be too old to learn something new.

It's only been 10 weeks for me, and hoping I can keep it up.

Hi Paul

I was 40, but I'd drunk and drugged for nearly 30 years. It's never too late

Welcome to SR!

Hi Paul I stopped a 35 year cigarette habit and drinking 14 weeks ago. I am 54 years old so it is definitely never too late. It is tough at times and you have to work hard some days to deal with the emotions that come out, but boy is it worth it. I have never felt as free my entire adult life as I do now.

My first attempt was at 39 now I am 41.

But there are people here in the 50's that are giving it their go at sobriety...

Welcome aboard..

Just don't be too old to change, because that's what it takes.

Sober at 54.

Welcome to SR Paul,

I found this site back in April 2010, at 53,..... and it's been a life changing experience breaking free of my addiction to booze since then.

I'm 51. I thought I would die doing drugs and drinking.

I'll leave here but it won't be because of drugs and alcohol.

If I can do it anyone can do it.

Oh yeah - and I'd been drinking for 30 yrs. I have almost 5 yrs. sober. The feeling of relief and thankfulness hasn't changed - I'm so happy to be taking part in my life rather than phoning it in.

Congratulations on your 10 weeks! That is great.

51 here as well. One year sober on January 1. Best thing I ever did, giving up alcohol transformed and saved my life. Right now I feel like my life has just begun!
Congrats on the 10 weeks! It gets better and better. Stick around, lots of great support here.

Hi! I just turned 49 and just began my recovery from oxy a few weeks ago. Feels nice to end one decade and head toward my 50s doing something so positive! Transformation and rebirth can happen at any age!

Hi Paul. I am not 50 (yet), 27 here, but I did more than enough drinking for quite a few people twice my age.

Welcome to SR!
