Christmas with the family
Christmas with the family
My sister-in-law had stained purple teeth and lips and was slurring every word.
My mom had finished two 1.5L bottles of wine and was now drinking a concoction of crystal light and bottom shelf whiskey.
My dad was on the third time of asking me if I wanted to have some champange with him, I said no. He said, 'my little lush, are you obstaining from booze?' I said 'yes dad and I have been for awhile' (27 days is a while for me). He told me he was proud of me for probably the second time in my 29 years of life. He then continued to get trashed, **** off my family, and use every swear word known to man.
My twin sister stays sober 99% of the time(except for a glass of wine here and there), she has seen what alcohol has done to our family and refuses to let it ruin her life. I am taking tips from her these days.
I think, as alcoholics, we need to see these situations occasionally to remind us why we aren't drinking.
What have you seen recently that has made you glad you are now sober?
