Day 5 and passed my first test

Today is day 5 since I gave up drinking. I went to the pub for some Christmas drink with some of my workmates and consumed three lemon, Lime and Bitters.

Congrats! It can be tough in the beginning but it gets easier.

Personally, I had to stay out of the bars to reach any lasting sobriety.

Great job. I know it's the holidays, but I would try and avoid gatherings where alocohol is served.
That's just me, everyone is different.
But, you're doing great!

Its good that you didnt drink, but if you continue to test yourself chances are you will eventually fail. Life throws us enough tests without us intentionally placing ourselves in tricky situations. I would just be cautious of where you are going early in sobriety.

Thanks guys. Christmas parties are now all out of the way and I'm on holiday and will be with my partner who is very supportive. I'm feeling strong, confident and good about myself. Thanks for your supportive and wise messages.

Going to bars is something I avoid.

Why expose myself to an environment where my life is at immediate risk while surrounded by the very thing that aims to destroy me?

Also, I caught myself living vicariously through watching my friends drink. Thankfully, I recognized what I was doing and want nothing to do with that slippery slope.

Bars and pubs are for drinkers.

I don't drink, so I've no business being there.
