So.....Sleepy

This is the second week of my recovery and I am sleepy all of the time. Nothing interests me and I have no appetite. Is this normal????

Me too. I've been sober exactly one week today. I thought I'd have more energy but from what I've been reading here, it takes time. We've been abusing our bodies and need to take care of ourselves... eating property, getting enough rest, exercising, taking vitamins, etc.

I do feel good when I wake up in the morning and say "hey, I didn't drink last night?" Even though I'm still dragging my butt around the house and the office.

I'm a big believer that sleep can really, really help a body and soul.

If you body is craving sleep I'd give in to it. The body needs the time and peace to repair itself.

Now if you are starting to feel depressed, that's a different thing.

But sleep . . . beautiful, wonderful sleep . . . is good for you.

I had a few nights of insomnia at the begining but also weekends where i was in bed for 20 hours a day asleep .. after about two or three weeks waking up on a saturday was so snuggly and the resting was really deep ..

all those weekends knocking back bottles of spirits and wine took their toll and i think it took a couple of months before my sleeping was at a reasonable medium .. which for me is about one night of poor sleep a week and 6 good'uns .

Bestwishes, M

One of the best cures for lethargy is regular exercise and consistent quality sleep, healthy diet.

Talk to your Doctor and then start / maintain a regular exercise program.

You will be amazed at the energy you have all day.

Start slow and build up.
