I've only been to a handful of social events but I go: with a ready answer to any potential probing questions, a contact on speed dial (check!), an exit strategy and a child like inquisitive mind to see what new perspective attending this event sober will bring.

I've spoken to people I've never found time for before, I've discovered fellow soberists and I've really appreciated waking up early and not feeling groggy the next day. That us the ultimate prize for me. Eye on the prize!

Update, I went to the party and was tempted all night. I am happy to announce that I did not have a single drink! It was fun and sober!!!

I too had my spouse's office party last night. I didn't succumb to alcohol either. I only slightly gave into Gangnam Style dancing so it wasn't a completely shame free night.

I'm following all of y'all's posts about these types of events because it's something I'm going to have to deal with. I wrote a post about the bigger things I want to remember and focus on but I imagine that's REALLY hard to remember in the moment. Kudos to you! What did you do to redirect yourself?
