I need to be in AA
I need to be in AA. I was so against it, but I went to a meeting tonight and heard something that really stuck from what I am going through. The guy at the meeting was talking about how he felt when he wanted to drink and he also wanted to stay sober at the same time. I have felt this way the past 4 days. It is a horrible feeling and whenever i think about doing the steps I feel better. I hear stuff that relates to me everytime I go. Who knows if I will go forever, but I am going to at least get a sponsor do the steps and give it a shot. Im sick of being miserable. I need someone to teach me how to have a sober happy life. Just wanted to put that out there on paper. Thanks

I'd recommend it. One of the things I love about meetings...I always hear what I need to hear. The steps are the solution...I can tell you....There is no way you can do those steps as laid out in the book...and not change. That's what I needed....Change.
I don't know what I need to hear. I go and listen with an open mind. I usually leave feeling motivated. It's where I can go and talk with other suffering alcoholics (or no longer suffering) in person.
Keep coming back!
Keep coming back!
Once I walked in the door with an open mind, it didn't take long before I found that I love my meetings.
I NEED to hear stories -the newcomers' desperation, everyone's experience strength and hope, so on and so forth...and I need to hear it from people who know what it feels like to have an alcohol or drug addiction. I need to hear it from people who are crazy the same way I am.
You can go in looking for the differences, or looking for the similarities. Look for the similarities, and I promise it will be worth the effort.
Good luck!
