New Suppporter

Hi everybody-

My best friend just joined AA four days ago. He is doing very well and has embraced taking control of his life and is under medical supervision. He has a wonderful support system at AA and attends daily, but he has absolutely zero support at home. When he tried to quit before, his soon to be ex-wife told him that she liked him better drunk. She has mental issues and is quite abusive mentally to both him and their kids. She is even worse with her strange games now that he has decided to leave her. All of his friends are drinking buddies and he wants to break off ties with them, so he doesn't have much there, either.

I am extremely proud of him and want to be the best support I can be. The problem? I live 2200 miles away. I would like to know the best things for me to do and say to be supportive from this far away. I really appreciate all of your insights!

That's awesome....You are blessed. Its great to have you both here. You'll meet some good friends on this site. She says you like AA...We have a great 12 step forum too...Do some reading...Ask some questions...Either in this forum or there....Make yourself at home. I have 17 months sober tomorrow in AA...And I'm glad you are here.
