Al-Anon believer...
Hi everyone! hope everyone is finding themselves these days during the holidays. I have had a rough time, but have found myself through Al-Anon meetings. I have gone 5 days in a row! and I have shared my experience of breaking a 11yr relationship with my fiancé. She is an alcoholic, that was very hard for me to accept, I thought our love for each other was very strong, but it was tearing us apart.
The more she attended A.A the healthier she was getting. She seem to fade in our relationship over the past 9 months, and last Tuesday was when we decided to part. I was a wreck, thinking it was my fault, and also blaming AA for our separation. The holidays were not any better I was with my alcoholic family giving me bad advice. I decided to attend a Al-Anon meeting, and it has changed my perspective on my life. I was more worried about her than myself, I didn't love myself, just her. Although I am new to Al-Anon, I think this is a big part of my life now. I still love my fiancé very much, but I know that I also have a life to live.
