Elegy For The Best That They Were, The Best We Can Be
Light a Candle
For The Best That They Were,
Light a Candle
For the Best We Can Be
We had the best of the best
For a while;
We had the glow of the light,
The passion of the flame
That burned strong
Without a flicker,
In its time,
For its time.
And that deserves
A newly lit candle,
That which was the light of our lives,
That which was the love of our lives.
Wicks burn low,
All must go.
Yet the richness of soul
That was given,
That was received -
Now, in that newly lit candle,
Still shows.
