6 months, wow!
Today I have 6 months of sobriety. When I started out here on May 21st, I really had no idea how long I could or would go without drinking. As more of a binge drinker, all I wanted was to get through one weekend and one week without a drink. I had told myself before I wouldn't drink for a weekend and a week many, many times, but never succeeded until I joined here. I mainly post on my class of May thread but I often read in a lot of the forums and wanted to say thank you to everyone who shares their struggles and successes here. It all helps. I also want to say to those who think they have a problem but don't think they can stop, that it is possible if you want it and put in the work. Make a plan, get support- even if the only support you can get is right here, and dig in. It is worth it. I don't regret missing out on anything drinking offered. After awhile of sobriety, I saw even more the negative effects of it. And like I said, I did not know how long I would go when I started, but I can honestly say I don't want to ever drink again. Anyways, thanks again to everyone and good luck and best wishes to everyone struggling.
