sober life is best life
dear friends I decided to go cold turkey 26th oct 2012. I'm 44 and had my first drink at the age of 16. I didn't knew when I became dependent on alcohol. for the last two years I tried several times to quit but not more than a week. Next morning of every drinking session (obviously in hangover) I had to check my cell phone call log to see who I've called, what we talked about and did I do something to be ashamed of? I simply used to go blank the other day.
After going cold turkey I too went through the hell of withdrawl of anxiety, fear, tremors, sleeplessness, dry mouth, but some thing in the back of my mind kept me going.
Now I spend time with my family, and enjoying every sec of sobriety. Now I'm always asking myself why I had to drink and waste those golden years of my life?

Don't look back friend. You could still be drinking and that would truly suck
+ the fact that you drinked makes you appreciate, maybe more in a certain way then someone that never been to hell and back ;-)

Vikram - I know what you mean. I kept thinking I would be losing something if I quit. Instead, I found myself - and gained a whole new way of living. I didn't need to be numb and foggy after all.
Glad to have you with us!
