Got an Alanon sponsor!
Hey guys,
So, a week after my meltdown on this board (thanks to everyone who PM'ed--God bless you), I got to a meeting this past tuesday night. By Wednesday, I'd reached out to the two women who'd said they were available to be sponsors.
Neither one called me back.
I called them both again, because I GOT NO MORE FREAKING PRIDE.
One of them picked up the phone. We talked. I asked her to be my sponsor. She said she would.
So...I am reading the literature and calling her when I need to talk. I am trying to focus on me and my recovery.
So, this is what she's taught me so far:
*Read the Al-Anon traditions and think about how they might apply to your own family.
*When I want to say something to my son, ask God if I should say it. If He says no, pray that He help you keep your mouth shut.
*Read One Day at a Time in Al-Anon every day and write down what you think it means, and how you can apply it to your life today, in 3 sentences or less.
*I should simply call her when I need to. If she is busy she will tell me so.
*I should ask her for what I need. If she can give it to me, she will. If she can't, she will tell me.
I am making a beginning. I am kind of excited about it.
I am going to do something different. I AM doing something different.
I love this board.
