Day 33. Something is changing...
Hi, SR.
Yes, it’s been 33 days for me.
It’s not the first time I’m staying from wine that long. But now it’s different.
Earlier, I used to “test” myself - “Ok, I can go without booze 4 months. Good for me. I deserve some nice wine”.
Now I am just learning to live differently, when I do not use wine to relax, ease pain, escape hurtful memories or thoughts, reward myself for hard work and success. There is still a lot to learn and to change.
It was weird to spend Friday night without a glass of wine (a glass, which is by some PFM turns into a bottle), now it’s Ok. It’ s normal. Even the idea to celebrate the New Year without Champaigne does not sound so insane to me any more.
For those who just start a jorney to sobriety - it is really possible to feel, have fun, enjoy new experiences and emotions, weekends, face reality, fears, demons and sceletons rushing out of your closet, without booze.
My best wishes and huge thanks to all SR members!
Have a great sober weekend

Keep it up! My life has gotten exceptionally better since putting it all down. Things that I thought I needed to be on something for is honestly more fun for me now. Remembering everything is an awesome bonus as well. You never have to drink again!

Midnight..congrats to you and I am feeling the same things as you right now. I could not have imagined life without...but last weekend I went out and actually felt the urge to dance without alcohol. I didnt actually dance but felt like I could. A week earlier I was stiff as a board at a halloween party and thought this is awful I cant even have a good time booze free. But something is changing in me for sure. I am going out tomorrow night and hope I can actually get up and dance and feel like I am having a good time. If not tomorrow then soon..I feel it. I am on day 47...I still cant believe it. Have a great weekend. And thanks for posting.

Congratulations on day 33 my friend
You are doing so well and should be proud of yourself.I know how harder it is at this time of year too.Learning new habits and new associations isn't easy but so worth it.
Stay strong and keep up the great work!

Thank you all for congrats)
Missingtheoldme - have a great time at party. Congrats on Day 47!
Justhadenough - thank you, my Octsober friend! Yes, it's harder at winter, when it's cold and all this about NY and Xmas. I'm distracting myself with thoughts about beach season))))

I am on Day 36 and could have written a very similar post. However, I do still miss a glass of wine, but do not miss the feeling the next day. I will need to get so e sparkling cider to ring in the new year.
Hope you have a Great weekend!!!

Well done on 33 days midnight. I started thinking of new year recently as well. I was surprised that I wasn't worried about it, in terms of what to drink to celebrate the chimes. I have no plans yet but won't be clubbing with my friends, that's for sure!
