She doesn't even exist beyond the page, but she is who I want to be like.
Im only 24, and I grew up homeschooled and with a love of classic literature. Then, in the 7th grade, I read a modern book for the first time. Im an avid Harry Potter fan, and one of my friends recently asked me my favorite character and why. Lily Evans. his mom. She cared for and dated a young man in high school who made bad decisions and he verbally abused her, manipulated her, and she stood up for herself, loved herself, and cut him off when he chose his own evil desires over her. What makes her even more compelling is that when he came back snivelling and crying for forgiveness, she still had the strength to walk away. Im rambling. I know, but I was wondering if anyone else had a role model, someone whose example is a good one to follow?

Can you remind me who that was that Lily Evans dated in high school?

I know she was friend with Severus Snape who loved her and that James Potter and his
gang were jerks to Snape but I am pretty sure James Potter dies with Lily Evans?

She did date James. in an interview with JK Rowling after the last book was released they asked her if Lily loved Snape the way that he loved her and she said yes. she did and she could have been with him if it wasn't for his choices, so she moved on.

I chose my name Shine Bright because that's what I like to do in life. *twinkley smile*

I certainly wasn't shining bright when I first came to SR, but thanks to the support here and the support I get in Al Anon, and especially the support from my Higher Power, I am shining brighter than I was.
