Making progress
Earlier this week I posted for my first time in desperation for advice/enouragement. I got a lot of really good feedback and they made it clear to me that what I needed was to get a sponsor and start working ALL the steps, not just 1-3.
So the following day I went to an all-women's AA/Alanon meeting and I got up the courage to ask for a sponsor!! This is huge for me. I've been attending a meeting or 3 every week this past year since my relapse in February. I've taken in a lot of information, have stayed open-minded and willing, but I never found it 'necessary' for myself to get a sponsor until I was alone in my head and had nowhere else to turn.
She is an amazing, inspiring woman with more than 25 years of sobriety/experience with this stuff so I am excited to start working with her more and make this big change in my life. She has me working on my forth step right now which I (being a perfectionist) have been stuck on since out-patient treatment last year. I've finally been given the motivation to sit down and DO it. I feel so much hope right now and am so thankful for this opportunity!
