I'm thinking of going to out patient rehab because I'm an alcoholic and hoped it could help me with staying sober.
I'm so at the end of my rope I'm even considering in patient rehab.
I was wonder what were others experiences with either one.
Was it very helpful for you? Thanks in Advance!

It is all individual have done both but in I could put all my concentration on it. Dinners sucked but made lotso if friends. Out patient I worked all day than did it in the evinging in patient was having my bloof pressure taken like every 15 minutes.
Hi,
I also did both. Outpatient was at night after work. I honestly wasn't ready or committed (went to make family happy) so I didn't get much out of it. Then went inpatient for the same reason, same result. The rehab I went to was kind of a war zone with many people court ordered to be there so that didn't help. However, the actual program was good/solid. So, overall, I think you get as much out of it as you put in.
I finally got sober with AA. I wouldn't say the other experiences weren't helpful because in a way maybe I had to get through them in order to be ready. Don't know. However, when I think about what is helping me stay sober, I don't think much of the rehabs.
Good luck with whatever you decide and good on you for being proactive with your recovery.

Wonderful idea wanting to quit. I did in-patient rehab, and if I compiled a list of the greatest things I've ever done in my life. In-patient would be above having my child. Reason being I can't help her if I can't help myself.
Mine was a lot of court ordered people as well, don't let that scare you, those people usually have jail time looking at them if they act out of line or do something stupid, most were pleasant anyways and realized they had a problem and were tired of being in jail. Agree with Fitz a bit on the dinners not being great. Food was pretty decent for breakfast but they fed us like crazy, you never were hungry.
I still use most of the knowledge I learned from in-patient. Some of it was a beginners course lesson in going to AA though, and a lot of it was learning things about ourselves. Some of it didn't make sense to people at first. "why are we taking a nutrition class?!" they would complain. I always said to everyone "I ate like crap and hurt my body from that too, so whats it hurting?"
I would HIGHLY 100% recommend it to anyone that can afford or has the luxury of going and willing to take it as life or death.

My recovery began in a 90 day in-patient rehab in 1989. I would have died without it.
It was the beginning of a new, better life. From rehab I went to AA.
All the best.
