Going to lose it

I have a person in my life who has helped me through some very rough times, everyone else abandoned me family...friends...everyone except this one person. The fact of the matter is I have helped this person out just as much. They refuse to take a step forward with their life and is chainsmoking as I type. I literally take care of this person, who is older than me like they are a child....I don't say much because they are so Dang sensitive about everything....its driving me crazy and I would really like to drink to drown their constant whining out.....thanks for listening!

Isn't frustrating when people don't behave? I am in a very similar situation as far as dealing with an adult who is hyper-sensitive and childish. I thought I was the only one allowed to act that way! lol

I put this on my repeat in my head early on in sobriety. Some days I still do.

Hey, Lil.

Drinking to drown this out will only make you feel worse.
Try feeling a bit of compassion for this person, and how uncomfortable it must be for them to live this way.. Full of complaint, and unwilling to look at themselves. Unwillingness to change.

"It's not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." -Darwin.

Keep doing what you're doing, Lil.
You are changing, and growing.
Survival!
