New and Worried...

First of hey, i'm new here. I'm 17, and am an alcoholic.
I always turn to alcohol whenever I have a problem.
I have been detoxed twice already (in hospital) the last time it was really hard.
Anyway, i've had a really bad month, I found my great grandma after she'd had a stroke and consequently died, and i've also had a car accident.

So yeah, i've relapsed, and have been drinking again for the last 2 weeks.
I don't know what to do, whether to stop suddenly, or just taper off, but I have come to the end of my tether and i'm not letting this drug take hold of me anymore.

Great choice for you! I know for me, there is no tapering off because one shot of vodka (my beverage of choice) leads to the whole bottle and a consequent black out. My advice would be to make a plan and stay away from alcohol all together. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. I'm on day 7 and abstaining is difficult, but rewarding. I have faith that you can do this and this site will serve as a wonderful resource for support and encouragement. Best of luck to you!

Welcome to SR albmwman

I am assuming that seeing as you have been in detox before and you are only 17 that you have a keyworker? Someone you can speak to or contact when you're in trouble? Have you had any support to help you stay stopped? If not that might be a good place to start... There should be plenty of support where you are. You can phone drinkline (0800 917 8282) to find out where.

Glad you're here x

You have admitted your an alcoholic, GOOD. You admitted you need help, GOOD. Make sure you are completely honest with yourself on both of these and then do WHATEVER it takes to remain sober. Half measures or half truths will get you nothing. Surround yourself with sober people or supportive people. Think through your next drink all the way until the end. It is a dark place. Live in the light and stay sober.
