Welcome! Shoulda/coulda/woulda... YOU DID IT NOW! And you are in a great place, this has helped me in my first couple of days. You have the desire to start your road and everyone here to support you! Congratulations on a great decision :-D

Louise, it's good that you found us and decided to post. It sounds like this is the right time for you to begin your sober life.

I agree. I am on day two. Again. I've been on day 500 and something. Nothing is ever lost if you listen and learn. It is truly day one for us all. I remember someone saying in a meeting once when I was new to AA, I only have more sobriety than you because I got up earlier today. I really liked that. I chose not to drink today, sounds like you did too. Congrats to us both.

You are in a good place. We can help but make sure you surround yourself with support as best you can at home as well. It would be great if you had someone you could call when you are feeling down. Giving up alcohol is like losing a best friend and you will grieve so I hope you have someone to turn to. Good luck.

Welcome to the family louise! I felt so much better as soon as I joined. It was a relief to talk to people who understood. Before that, I was so alone.

I wish I'd reached out sooner, too - like 20 years sooner. We have to be ready, though - and apparently I wasn't through destroying my life. Glad you have joined us - you can do this, louise.
