Dinner without alcohol....GASP!
Went to outback last night and for the first time since I can remember I did not order wine or anything of the sort.....Wow! It's been almost a month, still early in the game, I think about alcohol on a regular basis...but one step in front of the other, right? I had this pain in my upper abdomen that has disappeared since I haven't drank, I knew that is what it was from, but I just didn't wanna admit it! I also went shopping at bed bath and beyond....and had the best time sober, yes at 39, this is what I get excited about! I hope everyone's weekend is sober as well!! Love and support to all my SR peeps!
I remember never going to restaurants unless they served alcohol. A meal always was accompanied by several drinks. Sometimes I barely remembered what the food tasted like. That was supposed to be fun?
I'm glad you're enjoying shopping & other ordinary things with a clear head. It's great to get excited about being sober and focused. No more foggy, groggy days for us.

As I just wrote, I just made it through a restaurant meal with no booze, and it was so hard and felt so bizarre. I also would normally never consider going to dinner at a place that didn't serve alcohol. I treated all restaurants as bars that happened to have food. I'm slowly realizing that food and booze are tightly linked in my mind, and I need to break that coupling. Certain foods in particular "must" be paired with specific kinds of booze, so I'm trying now to avoid those foods (long, long list). I'm very glad to hear that ultimately it is possible to enjoy food and restaurants without alcohol.....seems a distant goal for me, but I hope I get there.
