Great Alcoholic Movie

It's realism so it doesn't glamorize alcohol in the least. Available for instant watch on Netflix:

Everything Must Go

What are some others?

All good and worth a watch. I found 28 days to be very good for anyone in early recovery who needs a bit of a push in the right direction regarding changing their playmates, playgrounds and playthings.

I concur. It really is a good film. Will Ferrell took a cool turn with that one.

I always liked Drugstore Cowboy. Its more of a drug film, but man it captures a lot of stuff really well, its well acted and dramatic, and his "rehab" is really interesting. Especially how he thinks everything is boring at first.

Watch at your own risk, BTW.
I know that depictions of using can be a big trigger for some people.

Also - factotum, about Bukowski, is really a better portrayal than the beloved Barfly.

And Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas captures psychedelics pretty well. wow.
