Just Another Crazy Story

Had to share this story:
There is a woman who lives in my apartment complex. She has an alcoholic boyfriend.
She has been moping around the building for the last month because she had not heard from her boyfriend.
She assumed he had met another woman and had taken off with her. He had done this before.
So the other day I run into her and she is beaming.
I ask "so how are you?"
She says "awesome!"
I said "really, awesome?"
She says "yes, remember how I told you that I had not heard from my boyfriend in over a month and I just assumed he ran off with another woman?
Well great news! It was not another woman.
He is in jail!
He was arrested for assault and violating a restraining order.
He told me that he called me the first chance he got.
And I am his first stop as soon as he gets released.
He also told me that even though he has been to jail many times before, this time he is different.
I am going to see a whole new man.
We have already made plans to go to Disneyland!"
I said "sounds great. I am very happy for you."
What could I say when faced with such lunacy?
This is insane I thought.
Then all of a sudden it occurred to me, this could be me.
My XAGF left me for a man she met in rehab. Then changed her status on Facebook to "in a relationship."
Would I have been happier if she had changed her status to, "in jail?"
Did I assume that she was going to come out of rehab a whole new woman?
Am I still mourning her loss?
Unfortunately the answer to all three of these questions is yes.
Until you hear it come out of someone else's mouth, you have know idea how crazy WE are.

this disease causes insane thinking in the alcoholic/addict and the people around it ~

Prior to recovery this was me ~ grateful to not be living this insanity any longer!

prayers that she finds a way to know she is worthy of a healthier life ~

"We have already made plans to go to Disneyland!"

Sorry, but that made me laugh........ she could save her money, as she already lives in a world of make believe..........

It makes me laugh as well.
We are healthier when we can still find humor in the insanity of life.
Especially our own.
