3 days & counting

Hello all. I have 3 days sober now. I came into the program 18 months ago and have been struggling ever since. I get a few months of sobriety and then go back out for a few days. I hate it. I'm in the process of working the steps and looking at what's wrong. I'm glad I found this community. I think it will help!

Welcome rockymax!

Congrats on 3 days! I found a lot of support here and I know you will, too. Just coming here and reading a bit every day helps me stay on track. It's crazy how the old alcoholic thinking can creep in when we least expect it. I found that AVRT helped a lot too (you might want to google it).

Glad you're here!

Welcome and good stuff on the 3 days. I felt like a big hurdle had been jumped when I had 3 days under my belt. For me it's the hardest bit. Now I don't want to go back to day 1 again. I'm off to AA tomorrow night (1st one) also like the idea of urge surfing (google that too)

Wishing you a fab day 4

S x

Welcome rocky! I did that too - played with getting sober for a while. Finally, I realized the fun it used to be was never coming back. Every time I picked up it brought me misery. It was such a relief to finally stop trying to control the amounts, and lay it down for good.

We're glad to have you here with us! You can do it, rocky.

Welcome to SR Rocky

I had to do the 'can I drink normally' experiment over and over too. Coming here helped me stop that - hope you can use that help too
