Is 3 bottles per week really a problem? Lots of people here had 3 bottles per night.

It isn't about how much someone drinks. To even raise the possibility that a problem with alcohol can be measured, by volume of intake, is misleading to any newcomer seeking help here.

Unclebigs, I hope you take the time to read the posts here and educate yourself about alcoholism.

I agree with Carl. I have discovered that once you start thinking you have a problem, you probably do.

Quantity of alcohol does matter. Alcoholism is characterized by a progressive uncontrollable urge to drink that leads to significant problems in a persons life. Is 1 beer per week considered Alcoholism? Obviously no.

Alcohol is a problem in one's life if it's causing them problems ..... even if they drink one beer a week and yet despite the problems, they continue to drink.

Unclebigs ~ Dan mentioned when he drinks, he consumes 1 bottle of wine in 1 hour. That sounds like a lot to me and something that he is legitimately concerned about.

If he is concerned and it's causing him problems, then it's a problem.

Unclebigs- Adding on to what others have said, maybe Dan doesn't drink as much as some people on here and neither did I, but we both realized it was starting to become a problem and want to stop it before it gets worse. Nothing wrong with that. Welcome Dan!
