Guess what I did instead of drinking tonight
Carved small pumpkins with my kids! Went to the store with my son before my wife and daughter came home, and he was dying to carve a pumpkin. Where I live, if you carve one too early it will be liquid within a week from the heat. So I compromised and bought smaller ones that we will keep in the house. They drew the design and I carved them up!
Passed all the poison in the store and ignored it. I have to say at this point my body feeling cleansed is winning over my mind being numb. My mind is still acting like it's being rejected for not complying to the urge to drink, but it needs to keep losing.

That's a great idea Toss. I am sure your kids loved it. I had a similar feeling the other day when helping my 10 yo with a science experiment. I relapsed in June of 2011 and school started in August. I didn't get sober until May, a month before school ended, so I wasn't really there for her last school year as far a help with homework and stuff like that. Even after just a couple of glasses of wine, the last thing I wanted to do was spend time encouraging or reviewing homework. My kiddo is having a very different school year this time around. I am super involved with her class work, have met with a couple of teachers, etc, etc. Sobriety does pay off and the benefits to our kids are huge.
You sound great. Best wishes on this journey.

I totally agree...you're going to feel brilliant in the morning Toss!
I learned in a meditation class while in rehab to relax your body first and the mind will follow...it works for me.
Kept that body cleansed . You're doing great.

So glad to hear your story, it sounds alot like mine. We just have to keep our eyes on the horizon and when it starts to dip, we know what to do.
