Hello Recoverers!
Hi everyone, thought I would check in since I am new.
My name is Joe and I have been in recovery now for 160 days today! Seems like forever ago that I stopped drinking, but in reality it hasn't been that long.
I was attending AA for a while, but I stopped going because I just couldn't get past the first step. Perhaps the steps aren't for me, but that is what the whole program is based on. Not going to bad mouth anything about the program since it helped me to get and stay sober this long. I actually recommend it to anyone new who is struggling.
Well looks like I'll be doing a ton of reading to get caught up. I am really hoping to use this site for when I have an urge to drink and also to learn from others who have managed to stay sober for a while.
Anyhow, nice to meet you all!
..Joe

Hi Joe! Glad to have you part of the family. This place has meant the world to me, and kept me strong. I hope you'll find plenty of encouragement here. Congratulations on your 160 days - that's fantastic.
Welcome Joe!
I use a mix of tool and resources to stay sober..... nothing wrong with that! AVRT and this forum have helped me as much as AA did in the past. What's so great about this place is that it's so handy!
Glad you've joined us and congrats on your 160 days!

Joe!
Hey I started like you and had AA for my first three months and would do them again as for the crisis period that face to face non-judgmental support was invaluable. Now I do here on SR and some reading that floats my boat. SR is a great place for the eclectic at heart.
Congrats on your sobriety as that is a good streak that shows you can go the distance. I decided to just skip ahead from one day at a time to one lifetime at a time and relax. I am not complacent and won't ever drink alcohol again. I am recovered.
Glad to have ya bud!
