Marathon
Today is Day 63! I ran the first of my two scheduled races on Saturday. I achieved a PR (personal record) in the Marathon, finishing in just over 4:15. Talk about a high. I was a bit off on the friday before the run because I felt like I wasn't taking it seriously because I was so calm. I had the same calm the entire race. It was great. After drinking and hiding and dealing with the anxieties of active addiction for so long, the race was like a walk in the park for me.
That race really brought me full circle. The last marathon I ran was in 2007, after which I started supplementing the highs of long runs with the "highs" (read, lows) of strong drinks. Not this time though, my friends. I hope this message finds everyone well.
