my sponsor gave me the assignment to read about enabling. I wonder why.
I know why.... I am so good at helping others, I am a born caregiver and learned to forgive always.. the husband on one side of me, the alcholic on the other side if me.
any suggestion where I can read anything about enabling to get it INTO MY HEAD that I need to STOP ENABLING??

No one is born a caregiver, it is a learned behavior, and if done for life, not a healthy behavior.

Read all the the stickeys in the Family & Friend Forums and cynical one(s) blogs, go to the top of this page ,it is all there and easy to access.

You haven't posted here in years...are you still enabling your physically abusive huisband? If so, it might be time to get yourself into therapy.

Check a thread here called Codependency vs Enabling; also one called Codependency it's what most of us did. I view enabling as one of various "tools" that codependents use to keep the A under control or in concealment. Also, do a search on "enabling" using the Search function.
